Senior Patrick Covington
Patrick has been chosen as a National Merit Finalist.
From a pool of applicants, 40 high school students from the State of Mississippi and the Southeast have been selected to participate in the 2007 Lott Leadership Institute. He participated in the Lott Leadership Institute at Ole Miss last June.
Patrick's other activities include participating in the Hillcrest high school band and playing on the Hillcrest tennis team. This year Patrick is also serving as the co-president of the National Honor society, chaplain for the band, captain of the Quiz Bowl team, Youth Governor for the State of Mississippi YMCA Youth Legislature, and vice president for the 2nd district of the Mississippi Teenage Republicans. He is also co-president of the Beta Club, a member of the Mississippi SADD Student Advisory Board, and a member of Envirothon.
Seniors Kayla Creel & Brandy Runnels
Congratulations to both of these seniors who were selected as MPSA All Star softball players.
Senior Jeff Cooper
Jeff was selected to play on the MPSA All-Star team. The game is Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
Freshman Melissa Johnson
Melissa Johnson was a winner in the Hinds County Soil and Water Conservation District Poster and Essay Contest. She will now be competing for the state title.
Seventh Grader Carson Bailey
Carson Bailey a 7th grader at Hillcrest Christian School was awarded Most Outstanding Page for the 2007 session of Youth Legislator sponsored by the YMCA. This was Carson's second year in a row to receive this award.
