Fine Arts
Hillcrest Christian School offers a comprehensive Fine Arts Program that uses classroom instruction and performance opportunities to glorify God. Through education in the arts, we positively impact every student K3 through grade 12. Our students learn to appreciate the arts through the development and use of their talents and exposure to Music, Art, and Drama.
Our vocal and instrumental music programs introduce students to music by teaching music theory, music composition and music appreciation leading to performances and competitions. Preschool and elementary students learn rhythm and movement and are introduced to a variety of musical instruments. Students, grades four and five, have the opportunity to audition for HCS performance choir, "Jubilation." Their mission is to celebrate the message of Jesus Christ through performance.
Our art programs offer students a variety of experiences in art instruction with a variety of media-including drawing, painting, graphic design, sculpture, and crafts. Opportunities are provided to explore art in our world through exhibits and competitions. Students are introduced to drama beginning at the preschool level by participating in chapel and assembly programs, as well as community performances.
Our comprehensive band program, beginning with grade six, offers marching and concert bands. Students participate in group and individual competitions. With 15 straight years of superior state ratings, most of our graduates go on to receive band scholarships. Among our numerous awards, Hillcrest Christian was choose fourth in the nation in the 2005 Heritage Festival of Gold held in Boston, Massachusetts.
